Beautiful Quotes

Image: Tiffany & Co.

The reason I love this quote is that it's a reminder that everything moves on. If one day, I feel like crawling into a hole, this reminds me that the rest of the world will carry on being fabulous so I may as well get up and get moving!

Around the world

I'm so unbelievably excited about my upcoming holidays that I must share!

This June/July I will be heading to Canada with Matty to see my amazing friend Katy, we'll then be visiting New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles for a few nights in each before coming home.

"What an exciting adventure" I hear you say!? Well guess what, 2012 is the year for exciting adventures, as I'll also be heading to Europe in September/October with my beautiful friend Mel! We'll be visitng Paris, London, Croatia, Sweeden and Scotland!

I am almost beside myself with excitement for the year ahead ... much like a child feels the night before Christmas! ... I am of course, also excited about being able to use this beautiful luggage again!

Anzac Day

Today is Anzac day, a day for remembering our fallen soldiers who have given their lives in service to our country. Today, all throughout Australia and New Zealand, we will come together to remember and honour our soliders.

Growing up

This amazing blog is currently doing a series of journalling prompts, which have been giving my quite old and shabby journal quite the workout lately. I started using the journalling prompts much later than they were released, and as a result am only up to #25, it is however, one I feel worth sharing:

Journaling Prompt #25 ~ Write about one of your beginnings. This can be anything you can think of. The beginning of a relationship, the beginning of learning something, the beginning of a moment...
My entry is about the beginning of growing up:

I believe I didn't actually begin to grow up until I left home. I had no responsibility, no financial pressure, no care for style or class and no idea who I really was. I lived like a teenager in a box. I had interests, hobbies, opinions and dreams, but no sense of self, no desire to be a better person, no idea of creating my own personal style, beliefs and morals and no feeling that these things were missing from my life.

When I moved out of home I was 22. I had to learn to budget, to behave like a grown up, make important decisions and start dressing as though my outfits mattered (because, let's face it, they did). I became my own person.

I learnt how to go without things that were on the 'want' list for things on the 'need' list, I learnt to become responsible for myself, which meant no longer relying on my mother as an alarm clock, chef, laundry lady, ATM, taxi and carer - as a result I have a much closer relationship with her now (more like a friend).

I've developed my own sense of feminine style and learn what colours and cuts to fill my wardrobe with (more importantly, I got rid of those teenage outfits I'd been clinging on to - just because they fit, doesn't mean they should be worn). I've become passionately interested in the world of etiquette and have learnt that the best accessory I can possess is good manners and ladylike behaviour.

I've learnt what it is to care more for someone else than myself, to put their needs first and also what it feels like to have other living things be dependent on me. When I was 21 I felt grown up, I was full of thoughts and opinions about the world and they probably weren't my own. Back then, I was merely a teenager who had outgrown her teenage years and wasn't ready to step into adult shoes. I now feel confident that I can call myself an adult but I realise that I will never stop growing up.

My beginning of growing up has led to other new beginnings, like running a business, enrolling in university and owning property (things that didn't occur possible to me at 21). There may be a long way to go, but I can now say "I am growing up."

Fabulous Bookshelf

Is this not the most fabulous hallway/bookshelf you've ever seen?!

New Cupboard

This is my beautiful new cupboard! Ok, so it's not exactly new, it's been my Mother's for a very long time and I've been eyeing it off for years.

Throughout it's life, it has served as a baby cupboard (four times) a toybox, a wardrobe, a sewing cupboard and a spare cupboard in a spare bedroom. Finally it has made its way into my office and I can't wait to sand it back and give it a fresh coat of paint!

In my time, I remember it going from cream to its current lilac colour when I was about 13. I plan on giving it a happy coat of BRIGHT BLUE to fit it with my very cluttered office!

What's in my bag...

I love the 'what's in my bag' posts that people do. I'm always intrigued by the contents of other women's handbags.

Here is my [rather boring] handbag contents:

Handbag - mustard yellow leather from Colette (I just love it, and it's big enough for me to fit my life inside)!

Prescription sunglasses (Prada) and prescription glasses (Burberry) ... because I'm blind without them!

Mints, bobby pins and name tag for work (never worn once)

2 lip balms, nail file, moist towels, hand cream, hand held mirror, hand bag holder which lets me hang my bag from the table at a cafe (all usually kept within the pink purse to stop them floating around the bottom of my bag)

Purse from Forever New (void of any money), my business card holder (complete with business cards inside), my boyfriend's and my sister's business cards (you never know who might want motorcycle gear or beauty and makeup services)

Iphone 4s (with a brand new cover I bought yesterday)

Elite Dance notebook (all my business info can be jotted down for remembering)

2012 Diary (I will never give up having a proper diary, without it I am lost)

Pretty pen - (because stationery should make you smile)

What's in your handbag?!?!
